Research shows that up to 80% of a person's health is determined by factors outside of clinical care. For pregnant and postpartum patients, challenges like housing instability, lack of childcare, or food insecurity can be significant barriers to a healthy outcome for both mother and baby. This course solves the problem of how to bridge that gap.

Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) is a rights-based approach that describes care upholding dignity, confidentiality, and freedom from harm. How a person experiences care influences their adherence to recommendations, their stress levels, and their sense of safety. The goal of this course is to improve the patient experience and safety during perinatal care by equipping healthcare teams with the skills to consistently practice Respectful Maternity Care (RMC).
