Jane Nester, DrPH, MPH, MEd, Executive Director, Magnolia Coastlands Area Health Education Center, part of the GA Statewide AHEC System and affiliated with Georgia Southern University.

Dr. Nester has over 25 years of healthcare leadership experience in management, education, teaching, research and grant writing.  She has also worked in undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education.  Currently, she is the executive director at Magnolia Coastlands AHEC in Statesboro, GA where she works with recruiting, training and retaining a diverse health professions workforce in southeast GA.  In this position she forms educational partnerships and works with hospitals, medical schools, NP and PA programs, physician practice providers, medical clinics, health departments and university health science departments.

Previously, she worked at the NC AHEC Program where she was Executive Director and Designated Institutional Official for Cone Health and the Greensboro AHEC.  She had oversight of the FM and IM clinics which were recognized as NCQA level 3 patient-centered medical homes.

Dr. Nester also worked at Memorial University Medical Center in Medical Education Administration in Savannah, GA.  While there she helped develop a quality and performance improvement initiative with faculty and resident physicians and has presented on this topic nationally.  Prior to that she worked at Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVHN) in Allentown, PA.  She was Administrative Director/Co-PI on the Lowering of Vascular Atherosclerotic Risk (LOVAR) Initiative, a pioneering 6-year study in vascular disease management delivered by an interprofessional team.  While at LVHN, she also worked in health promotion/disease prevention for over 10 years.  She has had faculty appointments at UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC and Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, GA.  Currently, she is part-time faculty with the Jiann Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University and is a clinical instructor for Augusta University, Medical College of Georgia.
