MEETING MEDICINE IN THE MIDDLE: A GSMA Mentorship, Education & Advocacy Summit
The Georgia State Medical Association’s Medicine in the Middle symposium will bring together physicians, residents, medical students, and other health professionals to explore clinical care, physician workforce development, and advocacy strategies that address the needs of Georgia’s communities.
The educational program will address mentorship and the physician pathways; adolescent addiction prevention, early intervention, and treatment; climate, health, and environmental justice; rural health transformation; peripheral artery disease and limb preservation; and legislative advocacy. Sessions will emphasize practical approaches to recognizing clinical risks, strengthening collaboration across specialties, improving access to care, and addressing barriers that contribute to health disparities. Through clinical discussions, mentorship, and policy-focused learning, participants will examine how physicians can translate knowledge into patient care, community engagement, and advocacy.
Target Audience
Practicing physicians across specialties, residents, fellows, medical students, and other healthcare professionals interested in clinical updates, mentorship, rural health, health equity, and legislative advocacy. Premedical and undergraduate students pursuing careers in medicine are also encouraged to attend.
