ConDUC will present an annual 2 day scientific conference hosted with our collaborative partners the Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development at Clark Atlanta University Morehouse School of Medicine, where staff scientists, postdoctoral trainees, medical students, undergraduates, patient advocates, political representatives and survivors will exchange innovative ideas at the scientific, medical, organizational, and community levels to reduce disparities in prostate cancer along the whole disease continuum. On Day 1 our goal is to take into consideration the biology of the disease, access to care, social determinants of health, and aspects of provider, and institutional racism that play a role in excess mortality among black men with prostate cancer. On Day 2 ConDuc will sponsor a separate prostate cancer community screening event. This screening activity will be held at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. It is designed to target black men over the age of 40, with a goal of checking PSA levels in 100 men. Additional focus will be on the training of Women Champions in the community to connect with local health centers of excellence to encourage longitudinal relationships/partnerships and programs within the local community.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify barriers to prostate cancer screening and early detection in underserved populations and evaluate evidence-based strategies to improve access, uptake, and follow-up care.
  • Assess the role of emerging technologies, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, in prostate cancer screening, risk stratification, patient education, and clinical decision-making.
  • Apply culturally responsive outreach and community engagement strategies, including the use of trusted messengers, to improve prostate cancer awareness and screening participation.
  • Evaluate current advances in genomic testing, ancestry-informed risk assessment, and biomarker development that may improve prostate cancer screening and early detection across diverse populations.
  • Describe approaches to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical trials, biobanking, and translational prostate cancer research.
  • Integrate precision medicine approaches, including biomarker-guided screening and risk stratification, into clinical and community-based prostate cancer prevention and early detection programs.
