Christy Joyner

I have worked at SGRC for four years. I began as an ADRC Counselor before becoming the Dementia Care Specialist in January 2023. The Dementia Care Specialist Program was created to increase dementia education and awareness, build stronger community partnerships, and support care partners. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to contribute to growing this program from the very beginning. I enjoy taking education out into the community, but my favorite part is being allowed to work with family care partners or the person living with dementia.
I am an active GARD and GARD Outreach and Partnership Workgroup member. I am also certified as a Second Wind Dreams Virtual Dementia Tour Advanced Trainer, a Teepa Snow Positive Approach to Care (PAC) Certified Independent Trainer, and a Dementia Friends Champion.
Before SGRC, I worked for 20 years as a Director in Homecare. I have always had a heart for the elderly and disabled.
Outside of work, I love to spend time with my husband of 33 years, our children, and our grandchildren. I love my church family at First Baptist Church Blackshear, and my hobbies include crocheting and riding my e-bike.
