Ashley Varner, PhD, MBA, LCSW
Ashley Varner describes herself as a clinical social worker through and through. She has been in practice for nearly 30 years and has been fortunate to be able to work in a variety of positions in medical settings, hospice, non-profits, and as social work faculty. She has published a number of book chapters and journal articles. Her PhD dissertation was titled Caregiving: The Hardest Job You’ll Ever Have, a qualitative study of caregivers of those with cognitive impairment. Currently she practices in Emory’s Cognitive Neurology program where she sees clients and caregivers affected by MCI and dementia. She is also the clinical lead for psychosocial services for Georgia Memory Net and the Manager of Outpatient Neurology Social Work for The Emory Clinic. Although Ashley enjoys formal schooling, she says without question her greatest teachers have been and continue to be the clients, family members, colleagues, and supervisees that she has the privilege of working with on a daily basis.
