Barak Gaster, MD
Barak Gaster is a professor of medicine at the University of Washington where he serves as Director of the Cognition in Primary Care Program, a program which designs training and tools to improve dementia care in the primary care setting. For the past 20 years he has carried a large panel of primary care patients and continues to do so. For eight years he has also been dedicated to studying dementia, and has now become a nationally recognized expert on dementia in the primary care setting. He has been on the leadership committee for the CDC Healthy-Brain Roadmap, a member of a Hastings Center workgroup on ethical issues related to dementia, he is co-investigator at the University of Washington Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, and is the governor-appointed physician member leading the Washington State Dementia Action Collaborative.
