Maame Tekyiwa Botchway, MD MPH
Born in Accra, Ghana, Dr Botchway knew she wanted to become a doctor at the age of 7 years. She attended the University of Ghana Medical School in Accra, Ghana and went on to further her training in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. After completing her Pediatric Surgery training, she worked for about 4 years as an attending pediatric surgeon in Accra, Ghana before moving to the US to join her nuclear family. This meant she had to retrain to continue practicing medicine in the US. Because of her love for children, Dr Botchway chose Pediatric Medicine to be a complete children’s doctor. In Ghana, she also started a non-profit called HOPE for little lives with the mission of providing holistic care to children in underserved communities through health, outreach, personal grooming, and education. The organization has performed about 490 free pediatric surgeries and screened over 2500 children for various conditions. Visit www.hopeforlittlelives.com to see the amazing work the organization is doing. She is also a part time lecturer at the Accra College of Medicine in Ghana. Dr Botchway is passionate about mentoring young ones to be the best version of themselves. She is married to Rev Nii Laryea Botchway and blessed with 3 adorable boys: Jash, Ron and Ion. When she is not working or preaching, she loves to spend time with her family watching a movie or playing games.
