Dr. Katie M Dew is the current Administrative Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Morehouse School of Medicine.  Originally from Lithonia, Georgia, Dr. Dew earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Xavier University of Louisiana. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Medical Science at Hampton University.  She completed her medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine, where she served as President of the Student Government Association. Her passion for OB/GYN is fueled by the countless stories of her great-great grandmother Matilda’s courage as a midwife in south Alabama during the infamous Jim Crow era. Witnessing similar effects of social injustice and high maternal mortality rates in her own community and communities across the nation propels her to follow in her great-great grandmother’s footsteps.

During her training, Dr. Dew has demonstrated a commitment to medical education, patient care, and self-preservation. Following completion of residency training, Dr. Dew will join Atlanta Gynecology & Obstetrics in Decatur, Georgia. She looks forward to building lasting relationships with her patients, contributing meaningfully to the health of her community, mentoring the next generation of medical learners, and thriving as part of a collaborative clinical team. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, traveling, trying new restaurants, and binge-watching true crime documentaries.
