Kristen Glasgow-Petela, MD, FACS

Dr. Kristen Glasgow-Petela is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine, working as a full-time Burn Surgeon at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Originally from New York, Dr. Glasgow-Petela obtained a B.A. in biology from Wesleyan University. After spending a year as a research technician at Columbia University researching hereditary spastic paraplegia, she then matriculated to the University of Connecticut School of Medicine where she graduated in 2009. After developing a passion for the field of surgery, she went on to pursue a general surgery residency, beginning her training at St. Raphael’s Hospital and finishing her residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. Following this, she then went on to the University of Texas Medical Branch and Shriners Hospital where she spent a year specializing in burn surgery and critical care. Since finishing her training in 2015 she then went on to work as an Acute Care Surgeon at Bridgeport Hospital covering trauma, general surgery, burn surgery, wounds, and critical care. In 2024, Dr. Glasgow then moved to Atlanta to pursue full time Burn Surgery. Her interests include Surgery and Trauma in the Older Adult population as well as DEI for which she is a Committee member through the American Burn Association. She hopes to continue her work in both education and outreach while working at Grady Hospital.
