James Lah, MD. PhD

Dr. James Lah graduated with honors from Duke University and subsequently earned his combined MD and PhD degrees as a Medical Scientist Program Fellow at the Ohio State University School of Medicine. After completing his residency training at Emory University, he joined the Neurology faculty where he is the Alice and Roy Richard Professor of Neurology and serves as Director of the Cognitive Neurology Program.
Over the past 25 years, Dr. Lah has developed a multidisciplinary team approach to provide optimal care and support for patients and families while conducting cutting edge basic and translational research on Alzheimer’s and related diseases. Since 2017, he has led the development of the statewide Georgia Memory Net to provide access to cutting edge dementia diagnosis and treatment across the state. His current research is focused on understanding of the evolution of AD in its silent, asymptomatic stages in order to advance treatments to prevent disease. He serves as Principal Investigator of the Emory Healthy Brain Study, Associate Director and Clinical Core Leader of the Emory Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, and Associate Director of the Goizueta Brain Health Institute.
