Isla P. Garraway is a Professor and Director of Research in Urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is a staff urologist and Principal Investigator in the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, where she advises and leads efforts in the Precision Oncology Program for Cancer of the Prostate and ensuring equity with the Veterans Health Administration. Dr. Garraway is a surgeon-scientist and leads a basic/translational science laboratory. She is a Member of the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Member of the Broad Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research. Her research programs are funded by the National Cancer Institute, the Department of Defense, the Veterans Health Administration, the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and the Jean Perkins Foundation. Dr. Garraway earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University and completed the Medical Scientist (MD-PhD) Training Program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA with a doctorate in Molecular Biology. Upon completion of the UCLA Urology residency program, she joined the UCLA faculty. Outside of the hospital setting, she teaches the community about prostate cancer early detection and screening.
