Dr. Jeffery C. Talbert is a nationally recognized leader in biomedical informatics, artificial intelligence, health services research, and health policy. He currently serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of AI and Health at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, and as a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar. His career spans more than three decades of leadership in academic medicine, public health, biomedical informatics, and health policy research. 

Dr. Talbert has held numerous executive leadership positions, including Department Chair, Division Chief, Institute Director, Associate Director of a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program, and Director of multiple interdisciplinary research centers. He has led the development of enterprise research infrastructures, statewide health analytics programs, and national research collaborations focused on improving healthcare quality, equity, and outcomes. 

Dr. Talbert has served as Principal Investigator or Multi-Principal Investigator on more than 100 funded projects, securing over $130 million in research funding. His research has advanced the application of machine learning, artificial intelligence, real-world data, and population health analytics to address complex healthcare challenges, particularly in substance use disorders, Medicaid policy, rural health, and learning health systems.

Dr. Talbert has authored more than 300 scholarly publications, technical reports, and abstracts and has contributed to influential research published in leading journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, JAMA Psychiatry, and Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association. His work has informed state and national policy initiatives focused on opioid use disorder treatment, healthcare access, and health system transformation.

A Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA), Dr. Talbert is committed to building innovative, interdisciplinary programs that integrate artificial intelligence, data science, and clinical expertise to improve patient care, population health, and healthcare delivery. He has mentored numerous faculty members, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students who now hold leadership positions across academia, government, and healthcare organizations.
