Nicole Sessions, CD(DONA), MFA
Nicole Sessions is a writer, reproductive justice advocate, folk herbalist, yoga instructor and practitioner of Reiki and HypnoBirthing. As a full spectrum doula, Sessions supports birthing people and families from pre-conception through postpartum. She is currently working for Emory University on a study evaluating screening methods for PTSD in black, pregnant women. Sessions co-created the birth prep program, MIND + BREATH + BODY at LOOM. She also co-created Herbalism for Pregnancy and Birth Care Professionals, an immersive course in plant spirit medicine for the childbearing year. Sessions’s reproductive justice writing can be found in Ms. Magazine and other medical journals. She has consulted and created perinatal content for Ergo Baby, Demi Health and Hive Impact Fund. For her creative writing Sessions has received the Furious Flower Poetry Prize, a Cave Canem Fellowship, the John Lewis Writing Grant and the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund’s Money for Women Award. Her debut poetry collection, Nine Drops of Turpentine, was chosen by Victoria Chang as the winner of the Georgia Poetry Prize, and will be published by University of Georgia Press in March 2027.
