Sophia Akatue is a fourth-year medical student at Meharry Medical College with interests in obstetrics and gynecology, maternal health equity, and improving access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare. Her scholarly work focuses on quality improvement and health equity, including evaluating patient experiences and strategies to promote respectful, patient-centered maternity care. She has presented her research at regional and national conferences and is committed to advancing equitable maternal health outcomes, particularly for historically underserved communities.
