Crystal D. Charley, MBA, is a nationally recognized birth justice advocate, policy strategist, and movement leader working at the intersection of Black maternal health, reproductive justice, philanthropy, and systems change. She is the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Melanin & Maternal Wellness®, where she advances Black maternal wellness through advocacy, policy education, culturally centered care, and healing-centered community initiatives.

Charley also serves as Executive Director of the New Jersey Birth Equity Funders Alliance, leading efforts to strengthen New Jersey’s birth equity ecosystem through strategic philanthropy, community partnership, and systems-level change. A seasoned policy advocate and coalition builder, she works to translate community priorities and lived experience into policy strategy, legislative advocacy, and collective action. She is Second Vice President of the NAACP New Jersey State Conference and Chair of Women in NAACP. Her work centers the dignity, safety, joy, and collective power of Black women, birthing people, and families.
