Nkemka Egbuho is the Program and Navigation Services Manager at Roots Community Health (Roots), a nonprofit health organization dedicated to serving the most marginalized and underserved members of the community. In this role, she oversees the coordination and administration of both new and existing programs and projects, including planning, organizing, staffing, and supporting program implementation. Ms. Egbuho is a member of the South Bay leadership team and plays a key role in the success of the site's Family Programs. She also serves as Co-Chair of the Black Leadership Kitchen Cabinet and is a recent graduate of Stanford's Health Ambassadors Program through the Community Engagement Department.

Before joining Roots, Ms. Egbuho spent nearly a decade as a preschool teacher, working with children from 3 months to 5 years of age. During that time, she developed a strong foundation in child development, family engagement, and relationship-building—skills that have seamlessly translated into her work in public health and maternal and child health.

Ms. Egbuho is deeply passionate about advancing health equity and views her work as a calling. She believes that everyone deserves a seat at the table and that every voice matters. This philosophy guides her commitment to creating opportunities, fostering partnerships, and amplifying the voices of communities that have historically been underserved and underrepresented.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from San José State University and her Master of Public Health from Capella University in 2021. Her work has been recognized by CityMatCH in 2021 and 2022, and she was honored by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance in 2022 for her contributions to advancing the health and well-being of Black women in her community. In 2023, she was also recognized by the Root Causes Summit for her work on the Food Is Medicine Pilot Program.

In 2026, Ms. Egbuho will return as a presenter at both the Black Mamas Matter Alliance Conference and the CityMatCH Leadership and MCH Epidemiology Conference, where she will share the innovative maternal health work she has co-designed in Santa Clara County to improve outcomes for Black families.
