Toshira Maldonado, M.Ed., is a birth worker, doula, maternal health advocate, and community leader with 27 years of experience supporting birthing people and families in the United States and internationally. She is the founder of Most Beautiful W.O.M.B., Inc. and serves as Director of Policy, Engagement, and Programs for the Melanin W.O.M.B. Initiative, where she advances culturally grounded approaches to Black maternal wellness, birth justice, and community care.

Toshira also brings 10 years of professional experience in child welfare, providing her with a deep understanding of how trauma, systemic inequities, and family surveillance affect Black mothers and their children. Her advocacy is informed by professional expertise, lived experience, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring that Black women are heard, respected, protected, and supported throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond. She currently contributes to maternal-health policy and systems-change efforts at the local, state, and national levels.
