Amaya is a passionate maternal and child health advocate with experience in program management, research, and evaluation at non-profit, global health, and governmental organizations. She currently serves as the Evaluator for the Hospital Doula-Friendliness program at the NYC Health Department. She holds an MPH from Columbia University and has contributed to publications related to improving maternal health outcomes domestically and internationally. She supported the creation and building of a community-doula program in Lancaster, PA, and co-created a Birth Equity Project at Columbia University. She hopes to continue advocating for and supporting the maternal health needs of Black women.​
