Zuri Williams is a fourth-year medical student at SUNY Upstate Medical University with a Rural and Underserved Service Track micro-credential and a strong commitment to advancing health equity, reproductive justice, and community-centered care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Hampton University, graduating summa cum laude, and is a Spring 2021 Initiate into the Gamma Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Zuri currently serves as the Class of 2027 President and Leader of the Multicultural Student Advisory Council, where she collaborates with institutional leadership to promote inclusive policies, improve student experience, and strengthen campus climate. She is also the former President of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) chapter at Upstate, where she pioneered initiatives focused on mentorship, professional development, and community engagement.

Her work spans community advocacy, research, and medical education, with a focus on Black maternal health, mental health equity, and the social determinants of health. Zuri is actively involved in community-based initiatives through the Syracuse Black Maternal Health Committee, Housecalls for the Homeless, Layla’s Got You, and more. She has also contributed to medical education through curriculum committees, student-led programming, and faculty-facing initiatives aimed at improving equity, transparency, and training around medical education and policy.

Zuri has presented research on maternal health, reproductive health law, medical education disparities, and social determinants of health at regional and national conferences. She plans to pursue a career in Family Medicine, where she hopes to integrate community-centered clinical care, advocacy, and education to advance equitable health outcomes
