Pangela H. Dawson, PhD, PA-C, is a nationally recognized academic leader, clinician, and educator with an extensive record of advancing Physician Assistant (PA) education and health professions training. She currently serves as Associate Dean, Department Chair, and Founding Program Director for the Physician Assistant Program at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, where she has led innovative academic initiatives that strengthen workforce diversity, academic excellence, and community impact.

Dr. Dawson holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy Studies and Evaluation and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, both from the University of Kentucky. Her academic and administrative expertise spans program design, accreditation, curriculum innovation, faculty and student development, and fiscal stewardship. She has successfully founded and directed multiple graduate programs, including new Physician Assistant and Master of Biomedical Sciences programs, demonstrating her ability to build and sustain high-performing academic enterprises.

A passionate advocate for inclusive excellence and equitable healthcare, Dr. Dawson’s scholarly and professional contributions include Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)–funded initiatives that expand primary care training and strengthen interprofessional education. Her research and presentations have addressed topics such as diversity in healthcare, domestic violence advocacy, and best practices in clinical education.

Throughout her career, Dr. Dawson has been recognized for her mentorship and leadership within higher education and professional organizations. She remains deeply committed to preparing future healthcare leaders and advancing the mission of academic institutions dedicated to improving health outcomes for all communities.
