Dr. Ted Johnson received his MD from Northwestern University in 1990. Following training at UNC-Chapel Hill in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, public health, and health outcomes research, he moved to Emory University in 1997. He serves as the Paul Seavey Endowed Chair and Chief of the Emory Division of General Internal Medicine and as Department Chair of Family and Preventive Medicine. 

For the past 25 years, Ted has focused on improving the health and quality of life for older adults with chronic medical conditions. He co-directs Georgia Gear, Emory’s HRSA Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program which aims to improve the quality of care for older adults by educating and training the health care workforce to effectively address their unique needs. Dr. Johnson leads the primary care educational core of the statewide Alzheimer’s program Georgia Memory Net (GMN). GMN focuses on the maintenance of a statewide network of Memory Assessment Clinics such that primary care providers can refer patients for an early and accurate diagnosis of memory complaints. Dr. Johnson additionally serves as a supporting physician in Emory Integrated Memory Care (IMC). This nurse-practitioner led primary care clinic for people living with dementia and their families recently selected by CMS as a Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) established dementia care program model.
