Lynn Joyner is the Dementia Care Specialist for the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission - Area Agency on Aging.  She has been with the AAA for  18 plus years.  She has been in her current position since February 2023.  Prior to being the Dementia Care Specialist, she was the Aging Planner/Monitor for five years and the Aging Resource Specialist for ten years.  Prior to the AAA, she had a 19-year career with the Department of Family and Children Services as an Economic Case Worker, ABD Case Worker Principal, Supervisor, and lastly Regional Medicaid Consultant.  Most of her work experience has been in the field of helping others meet their basic needs, connecting people with resources in their community, and providing options that would allow older adults, at risk adults, persons with disabilities, their families and care partners to live healthy and independent lives in their home of choice for as long as possible. 

Over the past 10 years, her passion for caregivers/care partners has grown through her own care partnering journey with her mother and her best friend who was diagnosed with Dementia in 2022.  Lynn is honored to be in her current position to support, connect, and educate people living with dementia, their families and care partners, and the communities in which they live.

Lynn is a Certified Dementia Educator – PAC-CDE/L with the Teepa Snow, Positive Approach to Care Foundation, a Certified Facilitator and Trainer for the Second Wind Dreams Virtual Dementia Tour, a Dementia Friends of Georgia Champion, a Dealing with Dementia designated trainer with The Carter Center (formerly, Rosalyn Carter Institute for Caregivers) and a Certified Educator with Ageless Grace Brain Health Fitness.
