Dr. Washington is a minister-scientist who possesses over 28 years of experience in the academic medicine and non-profit sectors. He strives to create an ecosystem for experiential learning and workforce development to be a catalyst for scientific innovation and economic development. He has excelled at mobilizing multidisciplinary teams, multisectoral partners, and community members at stints with Northwestern Medicine, University of Chicago, American Cancer Society and United Way. As Project Director for the Morehouse School of Medicine’s AIM-AHEAD initiative, he has forged a network among academic institutions in the southeast region of the U.S. to build AI capacity and create a culture that nurtures future data scientists. As an emerging data scientist, his commitment to AI/ML integration is reflected in recent research projects that utilize digital epidemiology, AI training/curriculum development, mobile health platforms, and community-engaged simulation methods like Community-Based System Dynamics. Dr. Washington is paving the way for intergenerational access to AI via creative partnerships across multiple sectors and enculturated AI training tailored to different audiences, cultures, and literacy levels.
