Nicole Jackson, MD, MPH
Dr. Jackson is the Dorothy Ward Stansbury Endowed Assistant Professor of Pathology and Director of Autopsy & After Death Services for the University of Washington Medicine, previously serving as a Medical Examiner for Seattle and Chicago. She is a graduate of Duke University and Tulane University’s Schools of Medicine and Public Health. She completed her anatomic and clinical pathology training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and her forensic pathology fellowship at the prestigious New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator.
In 2021, Dr. Jackson was recognized as a Top 6 Honoree in the American Society for Clinical Pathology’s 40 Under Forty and received the Iceberg Award from the National Association of Medical Examiners for her ongoing special service to the organization and the field. Dr. Jackson has been recognized as an honoree on The Pathologist’s Power List since 2023 and received the 2025 Randy Lee Hanzlick, MD Persistence Award from the National Association of Medical Examiners for outstanding midcareer leadership. She is a founding member of the Society of Black Pathology, a fellow in multiple professional societies, and serves on the Washington State Maternal Mortality Review Panel, the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Registry & Research Collaborative, and multiple pathology Editorial Boards. Her career interests include deaths in vulnerable populations, mentoring, community outreach, health disparities, increasing pathologists' visibility, and novel approaches to pathology workforce development.
